prom night for my daughter! you always think that you are going to stage great shots for the important events in your kids life--birthdays, getting a permit & license, prom, graduation, first job. but when the event actually happens everyone is either running late, there is no time, the weather or people don't cooperate, or you just forget! this year, prom was no exception--everyone involved was running late so we hurried out into our overgrown backyard for a couple of pictures. the lush green of the yard was a pretty good backdrop for the prom goers. my daughter looks so beautiful! (and her date's handsome too!)

pretty in purple
Yet another spring wedding! Lucky for us, the day stayed slightly cloudy so that we didn't have to contend with bright sunlight! i loved the purples for this wedding! it photographed so beautifully. and that's said by someone who doesn't personally like purple! when i choose my favorites for wedding photo shoots, it's obvious that my favorites are the candid shots! i've included some of the posed shots, but this wedding i had to include a lot of my favorite candids.
another spring wedding
april was one of our busiest months for weddings. we shot this reception at Rood Bridge Park in Hillsboro--a beautiful park--one of Kathi's favorite spots for portraits. The building at the park where they held the reception was nice with lots of natural light flowing through the windows.

This weekend I was lucky enough to shoot the most adorable baby girl. I have several shoots to edit before hers, but couldn't resist doing a few photos! I'll post more later.

a spring break wedding
Spring Break in Oregon (usually the last full week of March) is hit or miss in the weather department. This year, it was beautiful Monday and Tuesday of that week but started to rain late Wednesday. We (Kathi & I) had a wedding scheduled for Saturday and were a little apprehensive about the weather. But bright sun is almost as bad as rain for photos. Saturday dawned cold but clear and by the time the sealing was over, the weather was perfect--not cold, not rainy, and soft sunlight. Yeah! The flowers were blooming at the temple--it was a beautiful day for a wedding.
This reception was gorgeous. The gym had been transformed with acres and acres of tulle and chiffon and miles of mini white lights. The bride's colors of black and fuschia looked great. It was fun to try to capture both the details & the mood of the night.
Instead of bubbles or rice, the bride and groom left through a corridor of guests holding sparklers.
