family photos

this was a family photo shoot i was able to do while i was on vacation in utah. these are my dear friends and i had so much fun--they kept making me laugh hard enough to jiggle my camera! i've known them for years and loved seeing the kids all grown up.

with the photos they selected, i was able to play around with several photo actions and effects--so much fun!

so cute!

at a family wedding this summer, i snapped these two candids of this little girl. what a cutie!

this couple knew each other when they were young, went their separate ways, and became reacquainted several years ago. having known them when they were young, it was fun to be one of the photographers for their wedding. these photos are of the bride & groom & the bride's cute daughter. i'll post more photos of the wedding in another post. as you can tell, these aren't posted in any order--these are some of my favorite of the three of them--both candid and posed.

fun on the trampoline

our attraction for our nieces (grandnieces, actually) is the old trampoline in the back yard. they love to jump. they giggle and laugh the whole time. while i'm watching them jump, i make sure my camera is ready to go for those fun, unscripted moments of enjoyment. a young family

this family was just great to shoot! i was able to shoot them while i was on vacation in utah. we went to wheeler farm in the salt lake valley. the farm was busy and part of it was closed off due to excessive winter snow runoff, but we still got some good photos. i wasn't happy with the shots i got of the baby, so the next day we took some more at their home.  i LOVED those.
for the family photos below, i love the kids' expressions. kids are naturally unselfconscious--it's wonderful!

here are some individual pics of the boys

he was so easy to pose!

he only smiled for us because a dog was passing by!

here are the photos of the baby taken the next day--what a beautiful baby!

in these first pictures, we covered the arm of the couch with a gorgeous textured blanket the mom pulled out of the closet. we draped the baby over the arm of the couch and had a friend hold the rest of the blanket up to form a backdrop--i loved the effect.

we used the same blanket and draped it over the changing table and laid the baby in it. we turned the changing table toward the light from the window.

happy one year!

another photo shoot of this endearing baby. in honor of her one-year birthday, i wanted to do a shoot with her and a birthday cupcake. i needed to go to up to the store to get a cupcake, and the whole family tagged along to get one cupcake! watching her with the cupcake was hilarious and a great photo opportunity!

i loved the monochrome color scheme.
