catching up...

Finally catching up on my blogging! I tried to update my blog a little while ago. I wrote a long post and uploaded all my photos, pushed publish and nothing happened! I'm hoping for better success this time...

proposal and an engagement shoot

While I helped with this engagement shoot just last week, I couldn't wait to post it (and skipped some other shoots I need to post).
This was an engagement shoot where the engaged couple got "officially engaged" (he gave her the ring) during the shoot! And the future bride's mom and her two aunts (me and my sister-in-law) were both there!
The light and location were gorgeous (as was the couple), and I can't wait to finish editing more of my photos. Here's just a couple photos, and I can't wait to help shoot the wedding...

Love the old truck in the field, but we had to watch out for cows and cow pies!

He's giving her the ring--such a wonderful expression on her face... (and my sister-in-law, Kathi, got it all on video)

Can't get over the great light and the fun location so close to their house.

newborn baby

This mom (and dad) were very gracious in letting me invade their home to shoot their newborn when he was only one week old. Many newborn shoots I see on photographers' websites boast sleeping babies. This newborn--born weighing OVER tens pounds--was alert for most of our session. And he was so big that the suitcase I brought to put him in wasn't big enough...
But isn't he just the cutest thing?

Here's big sister...

She wasn't real thrilled to hold her baby brother.

"photo booth" session

I've known Savannah since she was 18 months old, and was glad to shoot her engagement photos. I also helped them create their announcement. They wanted their photos to resemble ones you'd take in a photo booth.

We had just moved into our new home and the photo studio was stuffed with things we had not unpacked, so we shot in our front hall instead. With the front door open and me positioned on the stairs, we had just enough room and light to shoot this fun (and funny) series of photos.

royal shoot

My friend's daughters are active in the Job's Daughters organization. We had a great time at this photo shoot with the oldest daughter.

springtime shoot

Most of my senior sessions are in the late summer or early fall, so it was great to shoot one in the spring.

This senior was very relaxed and natural in front of the camera.

engagement session

This engagement shoot was an early wedding present for this young couple.

Such a cute couple!

I love it when I can capture a truly spontaneous moment.

Liked this shot through the flowers.

It's hard to walk naturally when a photographer tells you to "walk naturally". This couple did a great job.
