family photo shoot

a really rainy june made me nervous about the weather for this family photo shoot since i shoot almost exclusively natural light. but the day dawned partly sunny and cool but not too cold. the park was beautiful and there were plenty of spots with open shade. the kids kept us laughing throughout the whole shoot! 

one year photo shoot and more!

this adorable boy just turned one! we took photos of him and his brothers and sisters. i love to photograph this family. besides just keeping me on my toes, they are so much fun to photograph!

artist in residence-photography

during the last part of the year, the whole school participated in an artist in residence program with acclaimed photographer Julie Keefe. i had the opportunity to assist her sometimes as she went from class to class and grade to grade and taught both basic photography principals and empathy for others. it was a great experience! while the kids were out shooting, i had the opportunity to practice too. here are some of my favorites!

she was such fun and was quite happy throughout the shoot. besides her blessing dress, they also brought a special doll to include in a photo or two.

i love the way dad and daughter are looking at each other--what a sweet moment!

baby, baby!

what an adorable little guy! i've taken his mom's senior pictures, her wedding and now pics of her first born! wow! he was such a cutie and so cooperative. even though they were just in town visiting grandparents and scheduled an impromtu photo session, his mom brought a special blanket for him to be photographed with.
